Douglas Allen Fultz

December 9, 1956 — March 25, 2016

Doug Fultz, 59, of Stillwater passed away on March 25th, 2016 doing what he loved, working on air conditioning units. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and a service celebrating his life will be held at 2pm on Friday, April, 1st at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday from 8am-8pm with the family greeting friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6pm-8pm.
Douglas Allen Fultz was born on December 9, 1956 in Stillwater, OK to Chester and Marjorie (McKinzie) Fultz. He was raised in Stillwater and graduated from C.E. Donart High School class of 1975. Following graduation he received technical training in HVAC and plumbing and began working for Western Mechanical in Stillwater. In 1980, he married Karen Crayne and before long he was the father of two beautiful daughters, Lisa and Jackie.
In the early 1990s Doug began working as a tin bender for B&L Heat and Air working mainly on commercial jobs. He enjoyed working for B&L and made many wonderful friends there. Doug installed the duct work on many of the large manufacturing plants in Stillwater and trained countless number of apprentices during his long career. He was widely considered the second best tin bender around, the best being his mentor and father, Chester Fultz. Doug took a craftsmans approach to each of his installs and he took great pride in doing his job well and without any shortcuts.
When Doug wasnt working, you could likely find him working on a project, fishing, or hunting. He enjoyed hunting ducks, deer, squirrel, and geese. For Doug, it was as much about being out in the woods among the animals as it was actually hunting them. He considered himself to be a highly skilled hunter, but yet he would often answer his cell phone while in his deer stand. He was also known to fall asleep while in his deer stand, but he would never admit to being asleep, no matter how loud or long he snored.
An avid motorcycle enthusiast, Doug enjoyed the freedom he found taking in the view from the back of his bike. Several years ago he purchased a Harley Davidson and he loved attending the various poker runs, rides, and events with his friends from the Stillwater Harley Club. He was also a member of the Bass Masters, Ducks Unlimited, The Friends of the Stillwater Multi-Arts Center, and the Oklahoma Self Bow Society.
He was an easy going guy who was generous and enjoyed giving those he liked a hard time. Doug could get along with just about anyone, so if he didnt like you, it was probably your fault. He was a generous and selfless person who was always willing to help a friend and was always working on a project with Jackie or for Jackie. Doug was a talented artist who taught glass blowing at the Stillwater Multi-arts Center for several years. He recently began making his own wooden hunting bows and was looking forward to making his own arrows.
Those who knew Doug knew that nothing meant more to him than spending time with his family. He enjoyed spending time with his two sidekicks, his dogs Kalie and Jack, who followed him everywhere. Doug was never happier than when he was with his grandkids, who lovingly referred to him as Sugars.
One of the greatest joys for Sugars was getting to teach his grandkids to hunt and fish. Doug Fultz was a protective father, a proud grandfather, a loyal employee and a trusted friend and he will be missed by all his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Marjorie Fultz. He is survived by his children: Lisa Fultz of Baton Rouge, LA and Jackie Hart and husband Ry of Perkins, OK. Three grandkids: Rich Hart, Jake Allen Hart, and Hannah Hart, all of Perkins, OK. Three sisters: Shawna Mohiuddin, Marth Barrett and husband John, and Deborah Heidi Fultz, all of Stillwater, OK. Two dogs: Kalie and Jack.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested you take a kid hunting or fishing or donations may be made to the Doug Fultz Memorial Fund or online at www.gofundme.com/hnw8da84.
