Janet Lynn Smith

July 11, 1950 — January 27, 2023

Janet Lynn Smith loved her children, Brad, Jaye and Katie without limits, but that love was certainly rivaled by the doting love she held for her grandchildren, Peyton, Karlee, Brinley and Michael Andrew. She never tired of her visits and trips with them, reliving those visits and planning for the next. All those kids learned the lessons of "Say thank you, Mother", "Say thank you, Grandma", the definitive "Noo" with a slight lilt to the 'o' for things out of the question and "It'll be all right" for seemingly significant challenges, such as that they all face today.

To Steve, married to Janet for 47 years, Janet was the adult in the house and gives her total credit for his career, family and material possessions, of which the latter seems trivial at this time. She never ceased working to make him a better person. Steve was often told "Say thank you, Janet" for those things he took for granted. Janet loved Stillwater, home to her college, OSU, and the birthplace of her children and her retirement home, being happy to go nowhere else...save for the family lake cabin where she spent summertime in her youth and where her children spent theirs. She loved her dog, daily saying "I love my little Addie".

Janet was a teacher in schools at Pawnee, McAlester and Duncan. In retirement she enjoyed the company of her dear golf friends, serving Mobile Meals and the foreign travels she and Steve took with friends from afar.

In her birth family, Janet is survived by brother, John, and sister, Carol. She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Ardeth Simmons of Wagoner and infant sister, Laura. She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Janet lived her life by the ideals she instilled in others. We love you, Janet...to which she would simply reply..."Love You More". May God bless Janet.
