Jo Ezell

May 13, 1931 — August 25, 2011

Jo Ann Ezell, 80 years young, child of the King, beautiful, loving wife, amazing, sweet mother, precious grandmother, endearing great-mother, sister, aunt and devoted friend to so many went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 25, 2011. Jo, more affectionately known as Grammie, touched the lives and hearts of many people - young and old - as she cared deeply for others and loved those around her so well. She understood what it meant to be the hands and feet of Jesus as she served others compassionately and faithfully.
Born on May 13,1931 in Paoli,Pennsylvania to Edwin and Dorothy Murphey, Jo married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Mark Ezell, on August 8,1950 in Tucson, Arizona and spent the next 61 years in a marriage filled with much love, laughter, and fun. Jo is survived by her husband, Mark, her four children, Debra Eazer (Tucson, Arizona), Lynn Reeves and husband, JR (Stillwater, Oklahoma), Nancy Branch (Phoenix, Arizona), and Scott Ezell and wife, Amy, (Charlottesville, Virginia). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren who loved her and her spunky personality dearly. Jo also was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren with two more on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Betsy Russell (North Carolina), her niece, Tomi Murphey (Tucson, Arizona) who was like a daughter to her, as well as three nephews, one other niece, and a number of great nephews and great nieces. Spending time with her family filled her with great joy and happiness. She was proud of all her family and let them and everyone around know just how proud she was. She loved so well and is leaving a beautiful legacy of love. We love you and will miss you so much, Grammie, and we are thankful that you are now truly free, no longer suffering, and now dancing with Jesus!
Known for loving life and being the life of the party, she always knew how to make people laugh and how to make everyone feel genuinely loved. She portrayed the love of God throughout her life and her servant heart ministered to so many. Her compassionate heart also extended to animals and she was known for spoiling her corgi whom she loved dearly. In addition to her roles as wife and mother, Jo spent over 30 years in the medical profession. She successfully headed up the Neurophysiology Department at a prominent hospital in Tucson, Arizona. Shortly after retirement, Jo and her husband, Mark, moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma and became actively involved in the Prime Timer Sunday School class at Sunnybrook Christian Church where she also volunteered with The Angel Food Ministries. Once in Stillwater, Jo quickly became a huge OSU Cowgirl Basketball fan and looked forward each season to attending all the home games. Jo was also a well-loved, part-time, top-notched embroiderer at Stillwater Screenprinting where she developed special friendships with everyone who worked with her.
A celebration of Jo's life will be held at Sunnybrook Christian Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Jim Johnson and Paul Anderson officiating. In lieu of flowers, Jo requested that a memorial fund be established with donations going to Campus Outreach College Ministries and the Korean Adoption Fund, a fund that will help support the adoption of her great-grandchild, Pryce Lee. Donations to the Jo Ezell Memorial Fund can be made at any BancFirst (account # 97263444). Condolences for the family can be left at www.pmcfh.com.
