Alba Illoween Green, age 100, passed away January 11th, 2022, at Northwest Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
Alba was born on November 26th, 1921, to Jasper and Elizabeth Russell in Tamaha, Oklahoma. She was the second to the youngest of 5 children and the only girl. Her brothers were P.G., Doyle, Clement and Joe. She spent much of her childhood working on the farm as her dad was a sharecropper. She attributed her old age to clean air and working hard. In her later years, she worked at Douglas Aircraft and a meat packing company. During the war she met her husband Frank and they married on January 15th, 1945. After the war they moved to New Jersey where Frank was from. They eventually settled in Maywood New Jersey where they had 2 children. She became very involved in various organizations including PTA Garden Club and Girl Scouts.
Upon her husband’s death she moved back to Oklahoma to be close to her family. Family was her number 1 thing in life and would say that until she could no longer speak. In 2011 she moved to Houston, Texas to be with her daughter, granddaughter, and great grandsons. Alba is survived by her son Kenny and his wife Beth; her daughter Donna and her husband Rick; her granddaughter Melissa and her husband Jakari; and 3 great grandsons; Jordan, Camron and Jakari Jr.
