Albert Franklin Furman passed from this life on October 18, 2010, at his home at the age of 87. He was born January 19, 1923, to Leroy and Ada Madison Furman in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Mr. Furman married Ruby Marie Dalton in July of 1948. She preceded him in death in 1997. On December 26, 1998, he married Melva Bonebrake Dawes in Yale, Oklahoma. He was a member of the American Legion and attended Calvary Assembly of God Church. Al attended Pleasant Hill school north of Stillwater and he served in the United States Army during World War II. His hobbies included hunting and fishing, traveling to Colorado, and spending time at his summer home at Table Rock Lake in Lampe, Missouri. Al sold cars for over 50 years, first being employed by Harley Thomas Ford in Stillwater, then Noble County Tractor in Perry and finally as the owner of Furmans Used Cars.
Al is survived by his wife Melva of the home; sons, Danny Furman and wife Shenista of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Bill Furman and wife Leah of Stillwater, Oklahoma, John Furman of Hinton, Oklahoma; a daughter, Anita Dawes and husband Tom of Perkins, Oklahoma; two step-children, Betty Sue and husband Ron Howe of Poteau, Oklahoma, Larry Dawes and wife Shelley of Yale, Oklahoma; 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Don Furman, two brothers Ory and James Furman, and one sister Betty Akin.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the Calvary Assembly of God Church with Pastor Rusty Rhoads officiating. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Assembly of God Church c/o Palmer-Marler Funeral Home, 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, OK 74075. Pallbearers for the service include Jim Furman, Adam Furman, Tim Douglas, Brian Douglas, Scott Douglas and Trent Dawes.
