Allene Owen

May 20, 1926 — February 1, 2016

May 20, 1926-February 1, 2016
After a brief illness, Allene Bradshaw Owen went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 1, 2016 Allene was born on May 20, 1926 in Memphis, Tennessee, the twin sister to her brother Gerald Bradshaw. The family moved to Stillwater in 1938 and the twins graduated from Stillwater High School in 1944. Allene attended Oklahoma A&M where she was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity and earned her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics degree in 1948.
Allene married Ray Owen in 1954 and the couple lived in Bartlesville before moving to Indianapolis where they raised two sons and loved their time with six grandchildren and a great grandchild. Following the death of her husband, Allene moved back to Stillwater in 2008 where she enjoyed family and connecting with friends new and old.
With brother Gerald just five minutes away and niece Saras family 2 blocks down the street, Allene never knew who would be knocking at her door with leftovers or to mow the lawn or hang her latest pictures on the wall. Great nephew/niece twins Adam and Katie loved to show up in the golf cart to pick up Aunt Allene for a tour of the neighborhood or just to say Hi!
Upon returning to Stillwater, Allene picked up where she left off with friends enjoyed time with her Aunt, Ruth Ward. Although separated by miles, Allene never lost touch with her beloved friends in Indianapolis and never missed an opportunity to share words of love and grace with family there.
Allene was a gifted artist whose sweet spirit brought joy to all she met. Once back in Stillwater, she was a charter member of her cul de sac neighborhood girlfriend group who often gathered for tea or movies and enjoyed sharing life and friendship. Her move to Primrose just before Thanksgiving yielded yet another opportunity to discover friends from her days of growing up in Stillwater and could often be seen reminiscing at the lunch table. Allene never knew that some folks slow down at the age of 89 so when a fill in was needed at the reception desk down at the office, Allene could be found sitting at Judys desk welcoming visitors to the Bradshaw Centre.
The move to Stillwater also meant rekindled allegiances to OSU (although she finally confessed to Sara that after years of gifted OSU Orange clothing that she really didnt love the color orange!). Even more important, Allene rarely missed the opportunity to cheer on the Ray twins at Stillwater High School Volleyball or Baseball games!
If Allene were here to tell you the highlights of her move to Stillwater, she would probably also want to share about her beautiful community of faith that only God could have orchestrated. Through mutual friends, Allene met the Steve ONeils who not only became her extended family, but also her community of faith that worshiped , studied Scripture and lived life advancing Gods Kingdom together. Allene came to love this family as her own and it brought her such great joy to attend concerts, see artwork and hear childrens laughter calling on Gramo to see their latest project or share in family events as an adopted member of their lovely family.
Allene loved animals, especially her kitties and had fond memories from her time with Pumpkin. She never missed the opportunity to love on Paddy or Millie and Maddie and considered them her adopted four legged grandogs. This past year, Allene brought home Molly from the Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue organization. Allene was especially happy when she learned that her beloved Molly would go to live with a family shed met at Primrose once she could no longer care for her.
Of all the things in life she treasured, it was spending time studying Scripture and worshiping God that brought meaning to her life. She looked forward to this day when she would be with Christ Jesus her Lord. During her final days here on earth, she often talked of her desire to see Jesus and so now, we celebrate that this time has finally come.
Allene is preceded in death by her parents Claude and Nellie Bradshaw and her husband Ray Owen. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, that gifts be made to Judith Karman Bristol Hospice at 915 S. Main in Stillwater, OK 74074.
