Alma Laverne Miller

Alma LaVerne Miller, 79, of Stillwater, passed away Saturday, August 21st in Oklahoma City. Graveside services will be Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10:00 am at Marena Cemetery west of Stillwater. Alma was born to Alvin and Kave Gibson on September 9, 1941 in Independence, KY. Alma graduated from Simon Kenton High School in Independence, KY. On September 8, 1960 she married Ronald Miller and they were married for 56 years.

Alma was a homemaker most of her life. She volunteered in her children’s activities in church and school. She was a girl scout leader, an assistant softball coach, school crossing guard and school librarian. She loved being around children. You could always find her working in the nursery or with young preschool children at church.

Alma loved surprising friends on their milestone birthdays by secretly decorating their front yards in the middle of the night. She would drive many miles just to surprise them. She also enjoyed playing Mexican train dominoes with close friends and looked forward to a weekly game of fun and fellowship.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and her parents. She is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Markum and son in law Ron Markum of Stillwater, OK, a son, Rodney Miller and his wife Sharon of Dallas, TX, four grandchildren, Luke and wife Brittni Markum, Matthew Markum, Elisabeth Dunn and husband Dakota, and Emilie Miller, and two great grandchildren as well as 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
