Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 12th from 9am to 8pm. Alma Louise James was born on October 27, 1930 in Morrison, OK to Thomas Miner James and Zadie (Smith) James. She was raised in Morrison until the age of six when she was sent to live in the Oklahoma State Orphanage in Helena, OK. She remained there until she was adopted by her aunt and uncle in Missouri, under the condition that she would be used as full time farm labor. She relocated to Missouri and married Edward Justice when she was 17. Alma spent a short time in Guthrie before moving to Ivanhoe, TX to work on his family"s peanut farm. While in Texas, Alma began a long career as a seamstress. She was employed for several years at the Singer Factory. Ed passed away in 1961 and the family moved back to Guthrie where Alma accepted a position as a seamstress at the Guthrie Furniture Factory. She worked there for 20 years until the factory closed its doors. She spent the next two decades acting as a caretaker for her friends, family, and several neighbors. In the early 2000"s she moved to Perry to be closer to her family. When Alma wasn"t working, she enjoyed being involved in rescuing animals. She was a supporter and volunteer for the Noble County Paws and it wasn"t uncommon to find her housing up to eight dogs and several cats at her home to ensure they received proper care and the love she thought they richly deserved. She was also a talented crafter. She crocheted blankets and sewed pillows for her family"s Christmas presents and placed them under her tree decorated with homemade Christmas ornaments. She has been a long time collector of salt and pepper shakers and has a collection of upwards of 100 pairs. She also enjoyed canning, doing word searches, gardening, and keeping an immaculate yard. Alma was a stubborn and strong willed woman who could handle any situation she faced. After her husband"s death in 1961, she raised her five children as a single parent and managed to provide adequately for their needs. Although her life had its share of tragedy( being raised in an orphanage, burying three kids and two grand kids), Alma never lost sight of the importance of family and unconditional love. She touched many lived during her 85 years of life and she will be remembered as a strong woman, a dedicated mother, a loving grandmother, and a trustworthy friend and she will certainly be missed by those she loved. Alma Justice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ed Justice; three children: Sheila Shelly Nealis, Jerry Wayne Justice, and James Justice Sr.; two grand kids: Michael and Matthew Nealis; Several siblings; Lee James, Charlie James, Lorene Clark, Daisy Withrow, Betty Burgess, Elmer Kinkaide, Frank Kinkaide, Lela Kinkaide, Eddy Kinkaide, and Jackie Kinkaide. She is survived by two children: Donna Whitehorn of Perry and Charles Justice and wife Carol of Guthrie. 10 Grandchildren: Teena Keith, Rich Cook, Jeanie Tice, Samantha Fowler, James Justice Jr., Michelle Fullerton, Kyla Justice, Jerry Justice, Candice Nealis, and Amy Nealis.
