Amanda Stanton

d. February 13, 2014

Amanda Jean Stanton, 30, of Stillwater passed from this life following a tragic car accident on February 13, 2014. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home; a service celebrating Amandas life will be held at 10:00 am Friday, Feb. 21 at Sunnybrook Christian Church in Stillwater.
Amanda was born on June 17, 1983 in Medford, OR to Timothy Neil Stanton and Debra Kay McElmurry. She was raised in Southern Oregon until 1997 when her family relocated to Maramec, OK. Amanda attended school in Glencoe, graduating as member of Glencoe High Schools class of 2002. While in high school, Amanda was a member of F.F.A. She enjoyed showing her lambs and pigs.
Following her high school graduation, Amanda attended Eastern Oklahoma State University in Wilburton, OK where she was a part of the crop judging team and was named on the Deans Honor Roll. After a year in Wilburton, she transferred to OK State University in Stillwater where she pursued a degree in Botany. In 2005, Amandas life was changed forever with the birth of her daughter and new best friend, Cherry Elizabeth. As a proud single mother, Amanda worked several jobs to support her family. She worked as a model for the OSU Art Dept and as a receptionist for Strode Funeral Home. She also worked for Carmike Cinema, as well as several other various local businesses.
Desiring to provide Cherry with the best life possible, Amanda enrolled at Northern Oklahoma College with plans on becoming a science teacher. In 2011, she accepted a position as a bartender at JR Murphys on the strip in Stillwater. Amanda loved her job at JR Murphys and made many wonderful friends there. She took great interest in the lives of her customers and she never missed an opportunity to make them smile. This job allowed Amanda to provide a comfortable lifestyle for her daughter and Amanda spent the majority of her paycheck putting Cherry through private school and making sure that she wanted for nothing. Amanda took pride in her job and set out to be the very best at what she chose to do.
Amanda was a loving mother who enjoyed doing crafts and cooking breads with her daughter. She was very artistic and loved to paint murals and Cherrys bedroom walls. Her love of crafts led her to melt vinyl records down and form them into bowls which she distributed as Christmas gifts for her friends and family. She also enjoyed traveling, playing pool, and bickering with anyone who dared to get in the last word. Amandas forgiveness, selflessness, and sarcasm knew no bounds. She was as loving as she was stubborn and as generous as she was strong willed.
Amanda Stanton was an independent woman, a loving mother, a caring sister, a hard-headed daughter, a dedicated employee, and a faithful friend. She packed more life into 30 years than most people could pack into 100 yrs. She will be missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of unbridled compassion and unconditional love will live on through the life of her daughter, Cherry.
Amanda was preceded in death by her Grandparents: William Bryan McElmurry, Carl Thomas Stanton, and Alberta Jean Stanton and step-dad: John Patrick ODonnell
She is survived by her daughter and the light of her life, Cherry Elizabeth Halford-Stanton. Mother: Debra South and husband Ronald of Keizer, OR. Father: Timothy Stanton and wife Barbara Stanton of Winnemucca, NV.
