Avery Onal Reeder Sr., 83, was born October 3, 1938, in Nowata, Oklahoma, the son of Ferman Onal Reeder and Mildred Irene Firkins Reeder.
He passed away the morning of November 19, 2021, at his home in Perry.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church, under direction of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Perry. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery. Rev. Martin Foster will officiate.
He grew up in Nowata, attending Nowata schools. He graduated eighth grade, he would always say. He made it to the 10th grade. He was a truck driver in the transportation business. He drove trucks cross country and was in 48 states and Canada. He hauled oil out of Osage County, hauled valves and pumps and hazardous waste. His favorite was hauling cattle. He worked in the oil field in the late ‘70s with his brother Ben. In the late ‘80s, he had his own hot shot truck. He drove for Cherokee Strip Transit until he suffered a stroke earlier this year.
He is the father of Tresa Mast, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Merlene Wolfe and her husband Mike, Ada, Oklahoma, Wayne Reeder, Nowata, Oklahoma, Darla Ritter and her husband Steve, Mulhall, Oklahoma, Avery Reeder Jr., Ponca City, Oklahoma and Kristan McKisson and her husband Kenny, Perry. He has 17 grandchildren, 36 great grandkids and 10 great great grandchildren.
His hobbies included fishing, shooting pool and rodeo in which he was a bull rider and roper. In his younger days, the enjoyed water Skiing and loved to dance.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sherri Hodgens; and son, Doug Reeder; four brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers are Nick Reeder, Gary Reeder, Jason Slavens, Bill Miner, Reko, and Vincent Dale. Honorary pallbearers will be all 17 grandchildren.
