Barbara Jean Castillo

Barbara J. Castillo, 72, of Stillwater passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on October 27, 2014. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home
Barbara J. Clifton was born on Sept 2, 1942 in Stillwater, OK to Ben and Imogene Clifton. She was raised in Stillwater and graduated from Stillwater High School in 1960. Following graduation, Barbara attended Bible College in Missouri. Upon her return home, Barbara met Ysidro Castillo at Bible Baptist Church and the two were soon married. This marriage would provide her with three wonderful children: Lisa, Eric, and Bradley.
In the early 1980s she went to work for OSU as a typist, a job she enjoyed for over a decade. She left OSU to accept a position as a secretary for the Stillwater Sheltered Workshop. Eventually she retired to care for her ailing husband who passed away in 1996.
Barbaras faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. It was not hard for others to tell Barbara loved the Lord, as it was evident by the way she lived her life, showing unconditional love and generosity to everyone she met. She enjoyed studying her Bible and baking for her family and friends. She had a beautiful smile that could brighten the darkest of circumstances and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Ysidro Castillo, her parents, and a sister Patricia A. Arthur. She is survived by her children: Lisa Lenz and husband Allen, of Grand Island, NE. Eric Castillo and Carol Potter, of Stillwater, OK, and Bradley Castillo, of Ponca City. She is also survived by one sibling Arbury Clifton.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Barbaras name to the Stillwater Sheltered Workshop.
