Barbara Sue Cooksey passed away at her home in Stillwater on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. She was 74. Services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.
A Celebration of Barbara’s life will be 10AM Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Church of the First Born in Stillwater with Brother Jerry Wittman officiating. She will be laid to rest during a private burial at Tryon Cemetery. Visitation will be 10AM to 8PM at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater. Family will greet guests from 4PM to 6PM. Pallbearers will be Carlas Cooksey, John Cooksey, Chris Cooksey, Timothy Cooksey, Roy Parmley, and Loretta Parmley.
Barbara was born June 4, 1944 in Phoenix, AZ, to John Franklin and Pearl (Arizona) Manues. As a child, she lived in Arizona and Arkansas. At the age of 18, she and Howard Cooksey were married on March 16, 1963 in Arizona. As a homemaker, her family was very important to her. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a very compassionate person. She loved people. Some of her pastimes were painting, watching Scooby Doo movies, and going to the beauty salon to get all dolled up and made to feel pretty. Barbara had many fur babies that she loved dearly. One of her favorites was her granddog, Buddy. He brought a great deal of joy to her life.
Survivors include her husband Howard of 55 years; two sons, Carlas Cooksey and wife Ann of Stillwater, OK and John Cooksey and wife Regina of Stillwater, OK; two sisters, Virginia James of Cushing, OK, and Emma Coleman of New Mexico; six step-grandchildren, Derick Kelly of Perkins, OK, Loretta Parmley of Stillwater, OK, Roy Parmley, III of Stillwater, OK, and Mary Mochel and her two sons all of Lenexa, KS; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Owen, Gene, Lynwood, Tommy, and Delmore; two sisters, Martha and Natine; one granddaughter, Maryiah Parmley.
