Ben D. Staley, age 74 of Stillwater went to his new home in Heaven on Friday evening, May 21, 2010 with family members at his side. Ben was born on August 1, 1935 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was the son of Ben David and Dorothy (Freeman) Staley, Sr. He attended Central High School in Oklahoma City and Oklahoma City University. He was a 50 year member of the IBEW Local #1141 and served as its business manager and chairman of the Western Oklahoma JATC. Ben was an electrical contractor and owned and operated Bumble Bee Electrical Co., Inc. in Stillwater for over 22 years and was united in marriage to Betty Dennis in Springdale, Arkansas on July 16, 1966. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a long time member of Lodge #209 in Prague, Ok. He was also a long time member of the Elks Lodge #1859 in Stillwater where he loved to play cards.
Ben is survived by his loving wife Betty; four daughters, Cindy Bugg and her husband Dale of Prague, OK, Kathy Lawson and her husband Derek of Houston, TX, Kim Tessler of Oklahoma City, OK, Pam Saunders of Norman, OK; seven precious grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Don Staley of Oklahoma City; four sisters, Betty Harbit of Choctaw, Dee Jeffus and husband Jeff of Flower Mound, Texas, Donnietta Cooper and husband Rob of Choctaw and Gayla Early and husband Bob of Mustang. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services for Mr. Staley will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the University Heights Baptist Church in Stillwater with Rev. John Bugg and Robert Dennis officiating. Graveside services and Interment will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Resthaven Memory Gardens at 700 SW 104th Street in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
In Lieu of Flowers donations may be made to the Judith Karman Hospice of Stillwater, Oklahoma.
