Benjamin Clayton Niles

Benjamin "Ben" Clayton Niles was born September 14, 1930 at El Reno, Oklahoma. His parents were Albert C. Niles and Juanita Roblyer Niles. Ben passed from this life on November 4, 2010 at the Green Valley Nursing Home Ben attended the El Reno Public Schools. In 1950 he entered the United States Navy, where he served four years. After his discharge, he attended Central State College, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in education. He taught and coached at Perry High School and Anadarko High School. After teaching seven years, he became affiliated with Charles Machine Works of Perry. He was co-owner of Ditch Witch of Del Mar, VA for a short time; then returned to Perry where he worked in Sales, serving as a Dealer Representative, Zone Manager, and ended his career as Manager of Special Accounts. He retired from Ditch Witch in 1986. Ben enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and golf. He had many friends from all over the United States as a result of traveling for CMW. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Elks, Moose Lodge, and American Legion. Funeral services for Ben are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at the First Christian Church with Pastor Martin Foster officiating. Interment will be at the Grace Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation c/o Perry Funeral Home 203 E. Fir. Perry, OK 73077. Services are under the direction of Perry Funeral Home. Ben is survived by his wife, Lavona, of the home; his son, Benjamin C. Niles II, his daughter, Kathy Sue Niles. Grandchildren, Benjamin C. Niles III and Caitria Niles. Step-children, Vicki Ivester and husband, Jack, John L. Walker, Jr., Patti Graham, Jeff Linihan and his wife Louise, Sandra Smith and husband, Bob. Sister Eileen Scott, and many step-grandchildren, cousins, and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Niles, mother, Juanita Plunk, daughters Vickie Ann and Trisa Renee Niles, brother Paul A Niles, and sister, Gloris Sheats.
