Bennie Lee Lockwood of Stillwater, OK, went to be with his Lord on Thursday evening, September 25, 2008.
Bennie was born December 25, 1931 in Glencoe, Oklahoma to Dennis and Letha (Potter) Lockwood. He was raised and attended schools in Glencoe. In 1954 Bennie married Rose Marie Grine. They raised three children together. Rose preceded him in death on December 29, 1987.
In 1989, Bennie married Beverly Christensen. Beverly had four children who were immediately welcomed into the family. Bennie always considered Beverlys children as his own children.
Bennie spent twenty-five years working as a supervisor (exterminator) for A&M Termite Company. In his spare time he enjoyed camping and fishing. He liked to listen to western stories on tape. He liked to be in his boat on Keystone Lake. He enjoyed camping in tents and later traveled in his mobile home. He made crafts in macram. He traveled extensively, visiting most of the fifty states. He enjoyed keeping a garden, raising tomatoes, okra, corn and strawberries. Bennie enjoyed seeing his family at a reunion which was referred to as Strawberry Day.
Bennie is preceded in death by: his parents, one son, Scotty Christensen and one brother, Cecil Wilson.
Bennie is survived by his children: Elizabeth and Michael Johnson of Pawhuska, OK; Ricky and Crystal Lockwood of Stillwater, OK; Edward Lockwood of Arlington, TX Chuck Christensen; Vicki Christensen; Tom and Beverly Christensen;. He is also survived by his sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Bennie is also survived by three brothers and two sisters: Leonard Ray and Jonell Lockwood of Perkins, OK; Hollis and Dar Lockwood of Snoqualmie, WA., and Gene and Glenda Lockwood of Glencoe, OK; Lorene Lamaster of Yakima, WA., Carol and Jesse Ross of Stillwater, OK. Bennies sister-in-law, Martha Wilson of Stillwater also survives.
Funeral services for Bennie Lockwood will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 10:00 am at the Palmer-Marler-Carberry Funeral Home Chapel. Pastors Merl Kinser and Dan Yankunas will officiate. Burial will follow immediately at Bethel Cemetery in Glencoe, OK.
