Bertha Hesser was born on May 8, 1940 to Donald and Mable (Wilson) Fisher in Kingfisher, OK. She attended schools and was a varsity cheerleader at Eureka Public Schools. During first grade year, she developed a crush on a boy, Robert Hesser, who rode her school bus. Following her junior year, Berthas family also moved to Glencoe, where Bertha and Robert both graduated. On her 18th birthday, Bertha Fisher married her first grade crush, Robert Hesser. This was a union that would last more than 53 years. Bertha was the boss for the first 50 years, but allowed Robert to be boss the last 3 years.
Bertha Hesser was not afraid of hard work. Besides raising her three children, she spent several years working at the Stillwater Medical Center nursery, M&W Grocery Store, Swan Rubber, and Mercury Marine, before ultimately accepting a job with the East Life Science Building at Oklahoma State University. She retired from OSU after more than 20 years of service. She also sold Tupperware for more than 14 years.
When she was not working, Bertha enjoyed going to garage sales, sewing, canning, gardening, collecting antique dishes, baking, and spending time with her family. She was an active member of the Glencoe Church of Christ and loved spending time reading her Bible. Bertha Mae Hesser was an amazing and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed by all those lucky enough to have known her.
She is survived by the love of her life and best friend, Robert I. Hesser. Two daughters: Dawn Drevs of Mannford, OK and Robyn German and husband Bill, of Springfield, MO. Two Sisters: Wilma Houck and husband Dwayne, of Perry, OK and Donna Sue Ramoz and husband Shawn, of Cheney, KS. She was welcomed to heaven by her parents and young son, Robert Hugh Hesser.
