Betty was the fifth and last child of Cullen Orlando and Lottie Elma (Dawes) Cromwell. Betty attended Sumner Public School from which she graduated in 1944.

Betty worked as a long-distance operator for 35 years with Southwestern Bell/AT&T. Betty married the love of her life, Albert “Bud” Petermann, June 5th, 1954. She received a Certificate for 65 year membership from the Grand Chapter of Oklahoma Order of the Eastern Star in 2015. April 2025, would have been her 70th year membership in Eastern Star.
