Beverly Rose Shaffer, 54, of Edmond, passed peacefully from this life on July 10, 2014 with her loving sons at her side. A service celebrating Beverlys life will be held on Wednesday July 16, 2014 at 11am at the Inner City Church located at 2212 SW 55th St. in Oklahoma City with Rev. John Bechtold officiating.
Beverly was born on Oct. 19, 1959 in Little Rock, AR to Bud Higgins and Brenda Garrett. She grew up and attended schools in Oklahoma City, graduating from US Grant High School in 1977. She married Ronnie Shaffer in 1981 and welcomed the birth of her two sons, Ian in 1983 and Christopher in 1985. She spent the majority of her life working as the manager of various supermarkets and grocery stores. She loved playing softball and traveled all over the area playing in different tournaments.
Beverly was a kindhearted woman who was independent and strong-willed. She loved her family very much and was never happier than when she was spending time with her grandsons. Beverly was a loving mother, a proud grandmother, a caring sister, and a trusted friend and she will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law Jerry Garrett. She is survived by her parents Bud Higgins and Brenda Garrett. Two sons: Ian Shaffer and wife Melissa, of Oklahoma City, OK and Chris Shaffer and wife Chelsea, of Edmond, OK. Two grandsons: Graham and Lincoln Shaffer, of Edmond, OK. Two brothers: Gary Higgins of Palm Springs, CA and Steven Higgins and wife Neisha, of Tulsa, OK and a niece Madison Higgins of San Diego, CA.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in Beverleys name to the Susan G. Komen Foundation at Komen Central and Western Oklahoma 115 Park Avenue Oklahoma City, OK, 73102.
