Bill Dunbar

C.B. Bill Dunbar, Jr. passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at his home in Stillwater. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, May 23, 2010 at St. Johns University Parish. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 24, 2010 at St. Johns University Parish with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Father Joe Townsend, Father Ken Harder, and Father Stuart Crevcoure will officiate. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9 8 and Sunday from 1 5 at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater.
Bill was born March 11, 1955 in Stillwater, OK to Clarence Dunbar, Sr. and Oleta (Ray) Dunbar. He grew up and attended school in Stillwater, graduating from C.E. Donart High School. He continued his education at OSU where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in accounting. After graduation, he worked for several companies before returning to Stillwater and opening his own CPA practice where he remained for over 25 years. Bill married Linda Butenschoen on January 8, 1977 in Eufaula, OK. He was a cherished father to his three children. He was very active in the Boy Scouts where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout; and was extremely proud when his sons followed in his footsteps. Bill became an ordained deacon on June 22, 2001 where he served at St. Johns and was involved in campus ministry as well as Kairos Prison Ministry. He recently became of member of the Stillwater Noon Lions and was also a member of the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Oleta.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; two sons, Matthew Dunbar and wife, Megan and Mark Dunbar, all of Los Angeles, CA; one daughter, Paige Dunbar of Denver; father, Clarence Dunbar, Sr. of Stillwater; one sister, Debbie Jones of Tulsa; one nephew, Craig Jones of Kansas City; and numerous extended family members and friends.
A scholarship fund has been set up in Bills name, send donations to Campus Ministry at St. Johns University Parish 201 N. Knoblock Stillwater, OK 74075. Memorial donations may also be made in Bills name to Kairos Prison Ministry c/o Kairos of Oklahoma PO Box 54383 OKC, OK 73154-1383.
