Billy “Bill” Joe Gazaway passed away on June 13, 2021, at the age of 81, in his hometown of Stillwater, Oklahoma, surrounded by his family. His battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis in recent years showed his courage in facing life’s challenges head on.
Bill Gazaway was born to Harold and Thelma Gazaway on August 5, 1939, in Perkins, Oklahoma. He joined the Navy in 1956 and proudly served his country until 1962.
Bill married Joyce Lee Sharp in 1972, and they spent many happy years together, operating their family automotive business, raising a family, and spending time with family and friends. Bill had a reputation for being an honest, hard-working businessman, and on his free days, he loved to golf, hunt, cheer on the OSU Cowboys and his grandchildren in their many activities, and to take family trips.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother W.L. Gazaway, and brother Jim Gazaway. He is survived by his wife Joyce, son Mike of Garland, Texas and his family, and son Jeff of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and his family, including several grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Linda, of Jones, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021, from 9am to 8pm at Dighton Marler Funeral Home. Bill will be honored in a celebration of life on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 2:00pm at Dighton Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery in Stillwater.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation c/o Dighton Marler Funeral Home, 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, Ok 74075.
