Bobby Gene Holderfield, 80, of Stillwater passed from this life on Feb 25, 2014 surrounded by his family. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and a service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 pm on February 27, 2014 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel at 5106 N. Washington in Stillwater, OK.
Bobby Gene Holderfield was born on September 25, 1933 in Milfay, OK to Noble Leslie and Nettie Mary (Henderson) Holderfield. He was raised in the Milfay area and graduated from Milfay High School. Following graduation, Bobby joined the U.S. Marine Corp where he spent 3 years serving his country during the Korean War.
After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corp, Bobby returned to Milfay where in the late 1950s, he accepted a job with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a lineman. Bobbys job as a lineman took him all over the nation and he made many wonderful friends across the country. In 1959, Bobby married Dorothy Jane Justice in a ceremony in Wisconsin. Bobby and Dorothy chose to raise their 2 children in Stroud, OK and after 15 years with SWBell, Bobby retired to begin a career as a welder. He spent many years making heavy equipment for the Unit Rig Company before leaving to work in several small shops in the Stroud area.
In 1994 Bobby retired and moved to Jennings, OK where he loved to fish, garden, and take his nephews camping. Bobby was a caring man who was outgoing and made friends easily. He was a joker who loved to make others smile with his great sense of humor. Bobby was a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a trusted friend and he will be missed by all who knew him.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeffery Paul Holderfield; two brothers, Johnny Grant Holderfield and Michael Leslie Holderfield; a sister, Edura Lou Pinson. He is survived by his daughter, Regena Login of Stillwater, OK; grandchildren, Mandy Guilin and husband, Scott of Elgin, OK, Angela Hetherington and husband, Trent of Glencoe, OK; great grandchildren, Weston Guilin of Elgin, OK, Wyatt and Chloe Hetherington of Glencoe; siblings, Harold Holderfield and wife, Drucella of Stroud, OK, Deloris Browning of Chandler, OK, Trena McEwen of Drumright, OK.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Bobbys name to the Wounded Warrior Project. Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.pmcfh.com
