Bobby Wayne Hazelbaker

Bobby Wayne Hazelbaker, age 73 of Stillwater passed away Tuesday evening in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2009 in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bob Walker of the Spring Creek Assembly of God Church in Edmond officiating. Interment will follow in the Perkins Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Hazelbaker will be held Thursday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Bobbie was born on October 11, 1936 in Skiatook, Oklahoma the son of Paul and Marjorie Irene (Atteberry) Hazelbaker. He moved at an early age to California where he was raised and attended school. He graduated from Harbor City Christian High School in Harbor City, California and attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater majoring in hotel and restaurant management. He was united in marriage to Betty Lucas on December 25, 1966 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following their marriage they lived in Inglewood, California for a couple of years, Perkins, Oklahoma for eleven years, Palatka, Florida for five years and Galveston, Texas for twenty-four years before moving to Stillwater after Hurricane Ike flooded them out in October of 2008. He worked as an optician in California, and owned and operated a restaurant in Florida. His last job was a Galley operator on a fishing boat for ten years. He enjoyed fishing, sports, and was an avid OSU football fan that traveled from Galveston to Stillwater for every game while living in Texas. He was also a square dance caller. He is survived by his wife Betty of the home; two sons, Dr. Paul Hazelbaker of San Diego, California and Michael Hazelbaker of Long Beach, California; one daughter, Debbie Humphrey and husband Greg of Perkins; two brothers, Ronald Paul Hazelbaker and wife Joan of Bullhead City, Arizona and Lynn Edward Hazelbaker and wife Melveta of Edmond; one sister, Joan Hazelbaker of Perkins; two grandchildren, Jeremy Humphrey and wife Jennifer and Cody Humphrey and a great grandson, Lukas Humphrey. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Robert Hazelbaker and a brother Gary Hazelbaker.
