Carletta Caldwell

December 30, 1936 — May 4, 2015

Carletta Caldwell, 78, of Stillwater, OK passed peacefully from this life on Monday, May 4, 2015 at her home. Arrangements are under the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and a service celebrating her life will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Calvary Assembly Church in Stillwater. Burial will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Public visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 7 from 8am to 8pm.
Carletta was the only child born to Otto and Clara (Spurgin) Ramsey. She was born on Dec 30, 1936 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She was a lifelong Stillwater resident and a graduate of Stillwater High School class of 1955. On July 3, 1955 she married the love of her life, Everett Caldwell. They spent 59 years by each others side and had two wonderful children, Michael and Connie.
Carletta spent several years as a stay at home mother before going to work at Central Drug as a cashier in the mid 1960s. After several years at the drug store, she went to work at Oklahoma State University as a secretary for the Agronomy Farm. In the late 1970s she accepted a position as a secretary for the JC Penny store in Stillwater. Carletta spent nearly a decade working as a customer service associate for Stillwater National Bank before opening a child care center out of her home on N. Jardot. She retired in the mid 1990s.
Carletta enjoyed staying busy; she spent countless hours volunteering for different organizations. She volunteered at the Stillwater High School Alumni Association and was a District Deputy of the Grand Encampment. She also served as the Secretary of Rebekah Lodge #37 and loved to help cook for their chicken noodle dinners on the first Saturday of the month. She faithfully attended Calvary Assembly of God.
Carletta was a strong willed and independent woman who was never short for words. She loved spending time sewing and hanging out with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Carletta is survived by husband Everett Caldwell of Stillwater. Two children: Mike and Jeanne Caldwell of Shawnee and Connie and David King of Edmond.
Grand children: Kara Caldwell, Jason and Lindsey King, Kami and Michael Jones, and Jennifer and Robert Gaither.
Great Grandchildren: Rebecca Rains, Zachary Shumate, Abigail Johnson, Kayleigh Gaither, Gillian King, Samuel King, Nathan King, and Marshall Gaither.
She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and one grandson, Scott Michael Caldwell.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carlettas name to the Shiners Hospital or to F.A.S.T (Foundation for Angelmans Syndrome Therapeutic) in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home 5106 N. Washington. Stillwater, OK 74075
