Carol L. Jarvis

May 23, 1941 — December 31, 2024

Perkins, Oklahoma

Carol Louise Schultz Jarvis, 83, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, in Perry, Oklahoma. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 4-8pm at Dighton Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater. Graveside service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 2:00pm at Carney Cemetery in Carney, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dighton Marler Funeral Home.

Carol was born May 23rd, 1941, at Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck, OK. to Frank and Doris (Strickland) Schultz. She was raised on the family farm that was homesteaded by her grandparents, Henry and Otelia Schultz. She attended and graduated from Shattuck Public Schools in 1959. She briefly attended OBU and OSU.

In 1961, she married Roscoe (Bud) Jarvis. For a few years they lived on a farm in Higgins, Texas, where Bud worked for a machine shop and did custom combining. They had three children, Donald Ray, Frankie Louise and Dale Ray. After a couple years they moved to a farm they purchased from Bud's dad in Perkins, Oklahoma where they started a dairy farm. Carol ran the dairy farm and raised baby calves while Bud did the farm work and also worked off the farm. They taught their children how to care for animals and do farm work. The dairy was sold in 1986, and Carol went to work cleaning houses. She took great pride in her yard and garden, sharing all the extra produce with her neighbors and keeping the yard mowed. She was an excellent seamstress, making the kids clothes and making many quilts for all the family. When friends had babies, they received a hand quilted baby quilt. When she wasn't working outside, she was inside hand quilting or embroidering. She spent many hours with her neighbor Carla working on quilting projects and going to quilt shows and stores.

Carol enjoyed keeping her granddaughter Holly many weekends and summers. Carol was a member of the Olivet Extension Homemakers Club and usually served as secretary. She worked on the Lincoln County Election Board and was the judge for 24 years. She saw elections go from counting ballots by hand for many hours to using a computer and being done in 30 minutes after the polls closed. She retired from the election board in 2011.

She then stayed home caring for her husband. Bud passed away March 30th, 2019. Carol stayed in her home until 2022. Her kind, loving neighbors looked after her and shared many meals with her. She was very thankful for their help and care. Carol's daughter Frankie cared for her in her home in Perry from March ‘22 until the time of her death.

She is preceded in death by her granddaughter Katelyn Jarvis and husband Bud.

She is survived by daughter Frankie, sons Donald and Dale, her grandchildren, Holly Sawatzky and husband Josh, and Mason Jarvis, great granddaughters Macie and Avery Sawatzky. She is also survived by brother Frank Eugene Schultz and wife Joyce, nephew Brian Schultz and wife Trish, niece Brenda Williams, along with many friends.
