Catherine Ann Kitty Jacob passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at the Grace Living Center in Stillwater. She was 91. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday August 28, 2013 at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Stillwater. A private family graveside service will be held before the memorial service at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home from 12-8pm on Tuesday.
A lifelong Payne County resident, she was born on December 2, 1921 to German immigrants Henry and Augusta Hinrichs. She graduated from Stillwater Public Schools and attended Oklahoma State University for two years before leaving school at the age of 19 due to the death of her parents.
She married Ralph J. Jacob in April 1946 in Stillwater. They were married 46 years when Ralph passed away in 1992. They lived in and around Stillwater their entire life, but enjoyed traveling in their motorhome with friends.
Catherine was an employee of the Stillwater Public Schools most notably as the Secretary to the Superintendent and Clerk for the Board of Education. Her retirement in 1986 marked 26 years of service to the Stillwater Public School District.
Catherine was an active member of Highland Park United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Ralph, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Herman, Frank and Ernest Hinrichs and a great-grandson Wyatt Jacob.
Survivors include one sister, Pauline (Polly) Putnam and her husband Bill of Stillwater, two sons, Jim Jacob of Stillwater, Tom Jacob and wife Beverly of Frisco, TX, three grandchildren, Shane Jacob and wife Jessica of Perkins, Lance Jacob and wife Amanda of Stillwater and Allison Jacob of San Antonio, TX and four great-grandchildren, Andy, Cole, Chance and Lily.
The family would like to thank Linda Creekmore, Jean Human, Companion Hospice of Guthrie and Grace Living Center of Stillwater for their compassionate and loving care and immeasurable kindness towards Kitty and her family.
