Charles A. Bridges, age 81, longtime Stillwater resident passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, in Oklahoma City. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.

Charles was born August 9, 1943, in Deport, Texas to Acey and Clarice (Rivers) Bridges. He grew up in the Guymon area where he graduated from Guymon High School in 1961. He married Linda Karen Watson on June 19, 1970, in Guymon, Oklahoma. Not long after they married the couple moved to Stillwater in 1974 to make their home and raise a family. Chares worked as a Journeyman Plumber for many years until his retirement.

They were longtime members of CrossPointe Baptist Church here in Stillwater where they made countless friends over the years. Besides going to church, Charles enjoyed reading any and everything and working puzzles, and he enjoyed watching Thunder basketball. He loved learning new things and going to museums and seeing all the antiques and learning about everything. Charles loved old school country music and Walker Texas Ranger and never missed anything about John Wayne. He was a retired union plumber of 55 years. Charles loved God, his wife and his family dearly and was proud to be James, Misty, and Casey’s father. 

Survivors include his three children, James Stodghill and wife Gwen of Oklahoma City, OK., Misty Vaverka of Stillwater, OK., and Casey Bridges of Grand Prairie, TX; six grandchildren, Katie Stonebraker of Maryland, Jacob Stodghill of Maryland, Justin Endecott and wife Jennifer of Edmond, OK., Kaitie Talamante and husband Hunter of Calumet, Ok., Hayley Vaverka of Stillwater, OK., Jaxon Vaverka of Morrison, OK; seven great-grandchildren, Rayelynn Talamante, Bonnie Talamante, Korbon Endecott, Reagan Endecott, Kason Endecott, Ryder Stonebraker, and Killian Stonebraker. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; parents; one sister, Regina Bridges; and one brother, Larry Bridges.

Viewing will be 9AM to 8PM Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater with family greeting guests from 6PM to 8PM. Interment will be Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11AM in Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon, Oklahoma. A Celebration of Life for Charles will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at CrossPointe Church in Stillwater at 2PM with pastor Mike King officiating. This service will be livestreamed.
