Charles Edward Phillips, 73, of Ponca City passed from this life on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Ponca City Medical Center. Services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.
Charles was born on August 30, 1938 to Howard W. and Louise R. Phillips in New York City, New York. He grew up in the NewYork City and Boston, Massachusetts area, and later California. Charles entered the United States Air Force on October 19, 1955 at the age of 17 and served during the Korea Conflict until 1959. On February 24, 1970 he married Beverly (Stephenson) Phillips in Las Vegas, Nevada. Charles worked as a machinist with Smith Tool for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and playing games on the computer. He was also known to like an occasional trip to the casino. He enjoyed OU sports, avidly following the Sooners each season. However, he was an even bigger fan of his grandchildren, who he spent most of his time with. He was a dedicated family man and will be missed dearly by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brothers Howard Phillips, George Phillips, Billy Phillips, Thomas Phillips, and sister Ruth Perry.
Charles leaves behind a wonderful family including wife Beverly of the home, eight children Brenda Bell of Ponca City, Becky Lunn of Ponca City, David Fisk, Thomas Fisk, Joyce Fisk, Keith Fisk, Kenneth Fisk and Debra Fisk, all of California. Brother-in-law Jerry Stephenson, nephew Curtis Hicks, niece Paula Hicks, 21 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, a goddaughter, Mary Ramirez, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
