Charles Morgan Eavenson

Charles Morgan Eavenson was born on November 19, 1915 to Charlie and Bertha Eavenson at his Grandparentss home in Mulhall, Oklahoma. He passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 97 years old.
Morgan attended Mulhall Public Schools. As a young man he was inspired by two breakthrough technologies of the time: radio communication and human flight. He attended the Wallace Radio Institute in Oklahoma City, graduating in 1936, and then built his own Ham Radio. He soon combined these two interests into a career as an aircraft radio electrician. He worked in Wichita and Hutchinson, Kansas and Tinker AFB during WWII.
He retired in 1981 after working 34 years at Will Rogers Airport in Oklahoma City for AAR.
Morgan married Lillie Aubert Eavenson on February 16, 1946 in Moore, Oklahoma. They had two daughters and were married for 35 years before her death in 1981. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bruce Eavenson.
Morgan was an avid Amateur Radio Operator receiving his license in 1936. He had made radio contacts in all 50 U.S. states and 22 other countries. In 2002 at 87 years old, an Amateur Radio Magazine wrote, Morgan Eavenson, W5FFC, sits on ten meters like a beacon. Well into his eighties, you will hear Morgan on nearly every afternoon. His favorite Cable Channel was the NASA Channel.
Morgan lived in Oklahoma City for 55 years before moving to Stillwater, Oklahoma in 2003. His selection of a home was based on having adequate space for his Ham Radio antenna. He continued to live in his own home for eight more years before moving to the Sterling House in 2012 at the age of 96. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, and attended South Lee Methodist in OKC until moving. Morgan planted a garden for over 30 years growing vegetables, fruits and flowers. He also enjoyed his family and loved taking them on many vacations.
Morgan is survived by his two daughters, Sharon Keeler and her husband, Chuck, Shawnee, OK; and Shirley Doughty and her husband, Roger, Stillwater, OK.; four granddaughters: Delain Keeler Stafford and husband, Frank, Cape Girardeau, MO; Jane Keeler Cameron and husband, Brent, Tecumseh, OK; Summer Doughty Bass and husband, Zach, Tulsa, OK; and Sarah Doughty Markes and husband, Jared, Owasso, OK.; and seven great-grandchildren that lovingly referred to him as Granddaddy Great: Blake, Justin and Carson Cameron, Morgan and Hope Stafford, and Rylie and Zacharia Bass. He is also survived by two sisters, Marda Taylor, Corsicana, TX, and Edna Mae Berger, Ponca City, OK; sisters-in-law, Norma Eavenson, Oklahoma City; Laverne Ruzycki, Jones, OK; Jean Johnson and Mae Allen, Spencer, OK; brothers-in-law, Vincent Aubert, Hobart, OK; Ray Aubert, Spencer, OK; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday, September 23rd at the Mulhall United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Mulhall, OK. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater, Ok.
