Clifford Allen Stein

Clifford A. Stein, passed from this life Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in Claremore, Ok.
Services are entrusted to the Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home of Stillwater, Ok.
Graveside services were held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Oklahoma City with Mr. Daniel Sweet, officiating.
Clifford Allen Stein was born on July 16, 1925 to Raymond and Carrie Stein on the family farm near Oakwood, Ok. He was the youngest of four brothers and three sisters. He attended Excelsior Country School in Oakwood.
He was inducted into the United States Army on Sept. 23, 1943. He did his basic training at Camp Roberts California in the Artillery. He met the love of his life in 1943 and while on furlough he married Velva Harden on Feb. 15, 1944. He was shipped to the Solomon Islands and joined the 37th Division on Bougainville. He made the assault landing at Linguan Gulf on Luzon, Philippines. During his service he received a Good Conduct Medal, 2 Bronze Battle Stars, and one Bronze Arrow Head.
He was proud and honored to have served his country in the United States Army.
After being discharged in Feb. 1946, he and his wife built their first home and the Stein
Cabinet shop in Watonga, OK. They also had a 5 piece band called the Roman Nose Ramblers and broadcast at KSIW in Woodward, OK. He played the guitar. Their Country Western band continued to play for Square dancers throughout the Northwest District till the mid 60s.
In 1952 they moved to Oklahoma City and Clifford went to work for the Board of Education as a shop
foreman. Clifford and Velva owned several small businesses working together before deciding to go into home building. He and his wife developed homes on Lake Lottawanna near Crescent, OK. He retired in 1981 and moved near El Reno where they built a final home on a private lake. In 1995 they moved to Stillwater to be near their daughter and son in law.
Clifford was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his two children, Roger Stein and wife, Pam of Newalla, OK, Rita Biswell and husband, Larry of Stillwater, OK; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. Todd Green, Dr. Woody Jenkins and their staffs, Judith Karmen Hospice, Claremore Veterans Center and Nursing Staff, and Hope Hospice of Claremore, for all their great care for our dad. We were blessed each day you were in our presence.
