Clifford Wade Struble, 67, passed away October 18, 2016. He was born March 2, 1949 in Ponca City, OK. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Struble; his brother, Doug Struble; and his grandparents. Cliff is survived by many friends and family, including: his wife of 43 years, Margaret Beman Struble; his mother Rose Marie Hawk; his daughter Claire Lininger and husband Raymond; his grandsons Drew Clinton (10 yrs) and Ezekiel Wade (4 yrs) and granddaughters Cora Margaret (8 yrs) and Audra Irene (6 yrs); his brother Stan Struble and sister Robin Tyler. We sorely miss him, but are thankful for our time with him in this life and know that he is in the best of all places now.
Cliff was a veteran of the Army and served in Germany. His motto was always be prepared. Cliff was supervisor of a crew that maintained the OSU Veterinary School facilities until he became disabled. Cliff was always a man of action and liked to say that talk is cheap.
Cliff had been in a wheelchair for the past 20 years and he would tell others that it was the best thing that ever happened to him. He called it his patience training and allowed him to slow down and appreciate the many good people and things in his life. Cliff had a remarkably positive attitude that inspired strangers as well as the folks that knew him best. Cliffs generosity was over the top, if he knew you wanted something, he would give you his or buy one for you without a moments hesitation and would argue if you didnt want to take it.
Cliff was a mentor to many young men and taught them the value of doing high quality work and lots of it. There are several men that always kept in touch with him that showed their love and respect of his investment in them.
Cliff had a love for working and fixing things, gardening, fishing, caring for his land, planting trees, and loud blues music - but playing with his grandkids was his favorite. When he was walking he enjoyed sail boating, riding Harleys, and helping friends with whatever needed worked on.
Cliff was a truth teller and did not have the capacity to sugar coat his opinions. His straightforward commentary will be missed. Cliff liked to end his family mealtime prayers with Lord help us to be good soldiers for you. We all hope to be good soldiers like Papa! He would tell us that he could see God all around him in all aspects of his life and he lived out Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. As he would always say, Youve got to stand up and be somebody, and now he is standing again!!
And finally, Cliff was a faithful husband and father and his mother-in-law said it best in a note to him several years ago when she wrote You have made me admire you for your attitude towards life and taught me to be more grateful for the wonderful life you have helped make possible by loving Margaret and Claire and making them aware of your love and respect, not once in a while, but every day . . . . and that you know how to say I LOVE YOU!!!
