Clifton Merkel Blackstock

Graveside services for Cilfton Blackstock, 85, of Stillwater are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Perkins Cemetery with Pastor Larry Eslinger officiating. There will be a memorial service at 6:30 P.M. Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Eagles Lodge (409 Eagles Lane Stillwater OK 74074) where his grandsons will be officiating. Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater.
Mr. Blackstock was born on October 19, 1924 in Pittsburg, TX to James Henry Blackstock and Martha Mattie (Davis) Blackstock. He grew up and attended schools in Pittsburg, where he graduated from high school. He served our country during World War II as a Merchant Marine. Clifton married Mozell LaVerne Taft on May 11, 1945 in Houston, TX. He was a self taught electrical engineer, working at various plants before coming to Mercury Marine, where he retired.
Clifton enjoyed computers and volunteering for numerous organizations. He was involved with Cimarron Medical, and Lifeline. He served as chairman of Total Health and the service chairman of the Stillwater Medical Center Auxiliary. From 2001 present, he accumulated more than 2200 hours of volunteer time. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Odd Fellows, and the Elks. Clifton passed away Friday, March 12, 2010 in Stillwater.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother; and one son.
He is survived by one son, Clifford Blackstock and wife, Barbara of Stillwater, OK; one daughter, Darlene Wells of Sun City, AZ; one sister Icy Rebel Kinslow of Pittsburg, TX; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; 13 great grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.
Memorial donations may be made in Cliftons name to the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 409 Eagles Lane Stillwater, OK 74074. Please include Clifton Blackstock in the memo section.
Pallbearers will be Shane Blackstock, Brian Blackstock, Doyle Jester, Jeff Steinmetz, Reggie Blackstock, and Rusty Blackstock.
