Colleen Blaylock Green, 83, of Tulsa, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel with Rabbi Anna Beroll officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery. Colleen was born in Apache, OK on July 29, 1927 to Richard M. and Julia Angelo (Stamper) Blaylock. On October 11, 1952 she was married to the love of her life Stanley Donald Green in Golden Colorado, a union that lasted 55 years until his passing in 2007. She was highly active in the community as a member of the Payne County Democrats, Oklahoma Writers Guild, Town and Gown Theater, the Literacy Council, the Stillwater Arts Council, and OSU international host family, and was the first woman to be elected to the City Commission in the 1970s. She also owned Colleens Clothing and Greenery Beauty Salon, and still had time to explore to the top of Machu Picchu in Peru. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, canning, shopping for shoes, reading, book clubs and playing bridge at Inverness Village. Her greatest accomplishment however, was her wonderful family and spending time with them was her greatest delight. She will be remembered as a daughter, a teacher, a scholar, a mother, a business woman, a wife, a politician, an entrepreneur, an author, a gardener, a poet, an unstoppable philosopher, and most happily a grandmother and great grandmother. Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stanley, and sisters Ruth Rumph and Nita Daughtrey. She is survived by her children Courtland Corky Green of Ponca City and Lori Green of Stillwater; grandchildren Jennifer Bennett of Jenks, and Colby Owens of Stillwater; Great Grandchildren Taylor Bennett and Noah Bennett, both of Jenks; sister June Blaylock Rosheim of Lawton; and brother-in-law Myron Green and wife Mary Ann of Rochester, NY as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Stillwater Public Library, the Inverness Benevolent Fund, or the Literacy Council c/o Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
