Constance Gertrude Humphreys

February 7, 1923 — May 7, 2006

Constance Gertrude (Arnold) Humphreys (Connie) was born on February 7th, 1923 in Weymouth, Massachusetts to Henry S. and Lillian G. (Green) Arnold. She spent her childhood in Braintree, Massachusetts, and on November 13th, 1943, married George Franklin Humphreys Sr., in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. George was in the U.S. Army, and the couple traveled to many far away places, including Japan and Panama. They also spent many years living at Ft. Belvoir, in Alexandria, Virginia. George preceded her in death on August 5th, 1980.
Connie was a career secretary, both for the Federal Government and, in later years, the private sector. She and George retired to Cocoa Beach, Florida in 1973, where they had spent many summer vacations, and lived there until Georges death. In the years that followed, Connie made it a point to live near her children, which took her to Minnesota, Maryland, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Oklahoma was by far her favorite; she lived many years in Marietta, and looked forward to spending many more years in Stillwater where she resided at her death. Connie loved to watch golf on television and was huge fan of Jack Nicklaus. She enjoyed traveling, and also enjoyed taking drives in the country and looking at cows. Nicknamed Mimi by her grandchildren, she loved and supported her family and enjoyed being in their company.
Connie passed away on Sunday, May 7th, 2006 at Stillwater Medical Center. She was 83 years old. She is survived by one son, George Franklin Frank Humphreys II of Columbia Heights, Minnesota; one daughter, Marcia Johns and husband Steven of Stillwater, Oklahoma; grandson Justin McCorkle of Edmond, Oklahoma and granddaughter Amber McCorkle of Stillwater, Oklahoma; three sisters, Virginia Cullinane of Youngtown, Arizona, Marcia Hansen of Intervale, New Hampshire, and Beatrice Bye of Chester, Vermont; one nephew, Eric Bye and wife Barbara, of Chester, Vermont, and their children Ole and Caroline; three nieces, twins Carol Dubay and her husband Myles, of Guilford, Connecticut and Astrid Swanson and her husband Ron, of Branford, Connecticut, and Nancy Waggoner and her husband Bill, of Lebanon, New Jersey, and their children; other relatives and a host of friends. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, and one brother, Stedman Arnold.
There will be private family services held at a later date.
