Darrell Lee Frech was born August 13, 1943, in Enid, OK to Robert Lee and Olive Jane Reece Frech and he received his heavenly wings on February 8, 2022.
He graduated from Carmen High School in 1962, where he was outstanding in football and track. He married Sally Marie Vincent of Jet in 1964.
He graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva in 1970 with a Bachelor of Art degree in Industrial Arts Education. He then taught seven years at Helena State School for Boys. He served in the United States Army Reserves for six years as a drill sergeant.
Darrell, and Herman Vincent, invented and patented a lightweight, space saving and cost-effective bale loader that allowed farmers to load two round bales of hay at a time, as opposed to the large and costly hydraulic system. Darrell, his wife and children manufactured and sold the loaders across the nation together while also distributing a product called Slick 50.
He studied and worked in the common law and helped set up the common law court in Oklahoma and many other states.
He was an incredible craftsman, making many beautiful wooden cabinets and carved intricate sets of angels from wood.
He sang in a barbershop quartet for many years. Many people will remember his beautiful solo voice that he freely shared with others. His robust laughter and great big hugs will be greatly missed by all.
He was so proud of his children. Charles is a STEM science technology teacher at Aline-Cleo and Sherry lives in Bethany Nursing Home where she has lived as of late since her tragic accident in 1997.
Survivors include his wife Sally Marie Frech of Jet, OK; son, Charles Lee Frech of Meno, OK; and daughter Sherry Marie Frech Hill of Bethany, OK. He is also survived by his grandchildren Mackenzie Lee Frech, Enid, OK; Jordon Hill, Denver, CO, Kia Justine Hill Shiever of Norman, OK.
