Darren Joe Overbey, a beloved son, brother, father, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June16, 2024, in Yanush, Oklahoma. He was born on March 17, 1965, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Herb and Letha (Dill) Overbey.

Darren was a man of many talents and passions. He graduated Broken Arrow High School in 1983 and went on to serve his country with pride in the United States Air Force from 1986 to 1992. Beyond his military service, Darren had a knack for woodworking. His creativity knew no bounds as he crafted beautiful pieces from wood, showcasing his talent and dedication to his craft. In addition to woodworking, Darren enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and sewing. His friends and family will always remember him for his kindness, good sense of humor, and quiet demeanor.

Darren leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving parents, Herb and Letha Overbey of Wagoner, Oklahoma; his son, Brandon Overbey Hummer of Quantico, Virginia; his sister, Melissa Overbey and fiancé, Mike Roberts of Wagoner, Oklahoma; two aunts, Vanessa "Kay Kay" Shockley of Wagoner, Oklahoma and Nina Walker of Yanush, Oklahoma; his grandson, Benjamin Edward Hummer of Quantico, Virginia; his niece, Hailey Cudmore and her husband Clay along with their children, Creece and Conlee of Cherokee, Oklahoma; his nephew, Seth Stephens of Wagoner, Oklahoma; cousins; and a multitude of friends.

Darren is now reunited with his brother, David Wayne Overbey and his maternal and paternal grandparents who preceded him in death.

A graveside service to honor the life of Darren Joe Overbey will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Cupco Cemetery in Yanush, Oklahoma with Rev. Rodney Tate officiating. Interment will immediately follow.

In Darren's memory, may we find solace in the joyful moments shared with him and carry forward the light he brought into our lives. He will forever remain in our hearts as we remember the legacy of love and creativity he leaves behind.
