Davie (Dub) Ventris

Davie Lew (Dub) Ventris, 85, passed away October 21, 2020 in Oklahoma City. Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Perkins Cemetery, Perkins, Oklahoma. Arrangements have been entrusted to Dighton Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.
Dub was born the sixth child to Clarence E. Ventris and Alta Wells Ventris on May 16, 1935, in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
After graduating from Stillwater High School in 1953, he served his country by joining the Marine Corp and served during the Korean War. He married Retha Ann Reynolds July 2, 1959 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. They made their home in the Perkins area. He was employed as a printer for Moore Business Forms. The couple were blessed with three sons and one daughter: Tommy, Terry, Timmy and Angelica.
Dub loved spending time with his family, watching Gunsmoke, a good buffet and was a great cook and especially enjoyed grilling countless burgers for large summer family gatherings.
He also enjoyed coaching his kids in little league either from the bench or from the stands. He was an active member in Freedom Church in Perkins. Jack of all trades, (builder, electrician, landscaper, gardener, etc), he could build and do anything. He had seven great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Retha of the home; his sons and daughter: Tommy Ventris and his wife Lottie of Perkins, Oklahoma, Terry Ventris and his wife Tammie of Princeton, Texas, and Angelica Laurent and her husband Joseph of The Colony, Texas; his grandchildren: Meghan Crawford and her husband Zack, Alexa Ross and her husband Justin, Rachel Laurent, Frazier Ventris, Leah Mattsson and her husband Dustin; and Hannah Laurent.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings: Quinton (Big Bub) Ventris, Norma Dean Harris, Carlita LaVerde, Delores (Dosie) Little, Ewel (Bub) Ventris, Judy Davis and Karen Cole; and a son: Timmy Ventris.
