Deborah Kay Husted,66, of Stillwater passed from this life on March 21, 2016. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and a memorial service will be held on Friday, March 25, 2016 at 4:00pm at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel.
Deb was born on Feb 18, 1950 in Woodward, OK to Don and Colleen (Morton) Bogdahn. She was raised in Texas and graduated from Richardson High School in Richardson, TX. Being an only child meant that she was extremely close to her aunt, cousins, and other family members. She spent many summers staying with her cousins in Woodward.
Following her high school graduation, Debbie spent a year studying at OSU before relocating to Ft. Lauderdale, FL for several years. She returned to OKC where she worked as a dental hygienist and in 1974 she married the love of her life, Wayne Husted. Wayne had two daughters from a previous marriage, Vicki and Shari, whom Debbie loved like her own. Deb and Wayne had two daughters, Danielle and Stephanie and Debbie became a stay at home parent.
In the late 80s Wayne accepted a job as the Service Manager at Ron Shirleys car dealership and the Husted family moved to Stillwater. Deb enjoyed living in Stillwater and made many wonderful friends there. She was very active in her daughters lives and she was very proud to be a Stillwater Pom Mom.
Debbie loved being at the beach and longed for the peaceful serenity she found there. She and Wayne traveled to Jamaica, Sanibel Island, FL, Mexico, Disney World, England and Hawaii, but their trip to Paris was her favorite. Debbie was an independent and strong-willed person who enjoyed riding horses, water skiing, surfing, and reading books.
Those who knew Deb knew that the two most important things in her life were her faith and her family. She attended Covenant Presbyterian Church in OKC where she taught Sunday school. She also had a profound love for her family. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids and was excited about the expected arrival of her fifth grandchild, Axel Mixon. She was extremely competitive, a side of her that often showed during family card or board games. Debbie Husted was a loving wife, a dedicated mother, a proud grandma, and a loyal friend and she will truly be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Don and Colleen Bogdahn, in-laws Esther and H.T. Henderson, and special friend Dee Reader. She is survived by her husband of 41 yrs Wayne Husted of Stillwater; children: Stephanie Mixon and husband Chad of Redington Shores, FL, Danielle Husted-Palmer and husband Charlie of Broken Bow, OK, Vicki Nichols of Oklahoma City, OK and Shari Cowles and husband Lyman of Bradenton, FL. Four grandchildren: Steven Beynon, Jason Beynon, Otto Mixon, Axton Palmer, and one grandchild, Axel Mixon, to be born in a few weeks.
