Delcie Marie Seat of Edmond, formally long-time resident of Perry, passed away Monday, April 7, 2025. Services are to be at the First Baptist Church of Perry on Wednesday, April 16 at 2:00 PM. A reception will take place in her honor immediately after at the Upper Fellowship Hall.
She was born Delcie Marie Howell on December 28, 1933, in Sumner OK. She was the first of four daughters born to John and Alma Howell. She graduated from Sumner High School in 1951, then on December 24,1952 she married Theodore Vasek. They were married until Ted’s death in 1964. On April 30, 1966, Delcie wed Keith Eugene (Gene) Seat in Perry, OK. They spent most every hour together for the next 46 years until Gene passed away in 2012. They worked together, played together and had the opportunity to travel to many places around the world, building a treasure chest of memories. They brought together two families, creating a busy, energetic home centered around school and sporting activities throughout the late sixties, seventies, and early eighties.
In 2006, they moved to Edmond and became involved in the YMCA, making numerous new friends. Delcie continued to travel after Gene died, going on multiple trips with her sister Linda, and brother in-law Richard Dunford, as well as trips to New Mexico and Colorado with son John.
Delcie was fiercely independent, living alone, and even driving, right up until the last few months of her life. She often said, “Don’t tell others your problems; 80% of the people don’t care and the other 20% are glad you gottem”. She continued going to the Y 3-4 times a week, believing that staying active was her secret to long life. We owe tremendous gratitude to those friends for helping her get to the Y after she could no longer drive, especially her adopted son, Stan Williamson, for always making sure she could get there when she wanted.
Delcie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene, sisters May and Faye, son in law Craig Whitacre, and granddaughter Caitlyn Beth Whitacre.
Delcie will be remembered by her sister, Linda Fischer and husband Larry of Oklahoma City, children Lester Seat and wife Jayme of Norman, Debbie Whitacre of OKC, Earl Seat of Perkins, Rick Vasek and wife Jennifer of Bedford, TX, John Vasek and wife Jean of Perry, LaVeryl Lower and husband Chris of OKC, and Susan Hillis and husband Jim of Edmond. She will also be remembered by 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, with whom she shared many great memories.
