Dick Wells

Memorial services for Paul Richard Dick Wells, 61, of Stillwater, OK are scheduled for a potluck at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:30 P.M. on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles with Allen Gharet officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home.
Dick was born on November 3, 1946 in Greeley, CO to Robert and Leola (Eckhardt) Wells. He grew up and attended schools in Greeley. He joined the United States Navy on January 26, 1965 and was honorably discharged on January 24, 1969. He served his country during the Vietnam War where he received the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He married Darlene Blackstock on May 26, 1985 in Cerritos, CA. He was an electrical engineer most of his life, working at Raytheon for 35 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles serving as a trustee and DDC member, as well as a lifetime member of the NRA. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, fabricating, gardening (300 tomato plants!), cooking, water sports, boating, and anything mechanical. In his later years, he became a small business man, operating several different businesses. Dick passed from this life on July 4, 2008. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Wells; his stepfather, Robert LaTorra; and his beloved dogs, Bandit and Bullet.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene, of Stillwater, OK; his mother, Leola LaTorra of Stillwater, OK; three sons, Jeremy Wells of Phoenix, AZ, Jeff Steinmetz of Fullerton, CA, and Jason Steinmetz and wife Kristy of Phoenix, AZ; three brothers, Jim Wells and wife, Loretta of Newberry Park, CA, Robert Wells of Hazelhurst, MS, and Michael Wells of Hazelhurst, MS; one sister, Barb Blackstock and husband, Cliff of Stillwater, OK; father-in-law, Clifton Blackstock of Stillwater, OK; three grandchildren, Christian Wells, Justin Paul Steinmetz, and Nicole Steinmetz, all of Phoenix, AZ; one dog, Blue; two cats, Gotebo and Whiskers; and many other family members.
