Donald Gene Robinson, 79, of Glencoe, Oklahoma left this life on January 15th, 2017, with great hope of an Eternal Resurrection. Public viewing will begin on Tuesday from 12:00 to 8:00 with the family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater. A private family burial will be held at a later time. Palmer Marler Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
He was born August 11, 1937 to Abbott and Opal Robinson in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Donald had a great love for his Family and farm. He worked for the Stillwater Hatchery making $37.50 a week, and then moved on to Gold Spot Dairy where he worked for 22 years and 10 days. He then worked for Oklahoma State University in the Turf Research department and then as a Grounds Keeper until he retired.
Donald loved Country and Gospel music. He had a Family band for many years called Daddys Traveling Band with his children Phillip, Gene, and Carrie Jane. He was an active member in his Church, Gospel Chapel, where he played the guitar with his son Gene and sang many of his favorite Gospel songs.
Donald married Helen Murrell February 7th, 1958. They raised 3 children Phillip, Gene, and Carrie Jane. He married again on July 25th 1998 to Freda Bradford who remained his love and companion until his death.
He is preceded in death by father Abbott and mother Opal Robinson, stepmother Mildred Robinson, brother Billy Robinson, sister Rhoda Jester and brother in-law Vaughn Jester, and sister in-law Debbie Robinson.
He is survived by his wife Freda Robinson, brother Ronald Robinson and his wife Mary Ellen, sister Joyce Johnson and her husband Rick, brother Randy Robinson, son Phillip Robinson, son Gene Robinson his wife Gari Sha, daughter Carrie Jane Robinson and her partner Dewayne Moore, step children Gary, Larry, Anita, Terry, and Judy, grandchildren; Lindsay, Ethan, Seth , Jennifer, Tiger, Josh, Estee, Candie and Bobbie as well as 6 great grandchildren; Casey, Makinzi, Tori Beth, Garrett, Carter, and Presley and step grandchildren Michael and Stephanie.
Donald will be loved and missed by family and friends.
