Donald Max Bode

Donald Max Bode, 81, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at his home in Perry, surrounded by his family. Viewing and visitation will be held on Monday, September 3, 2018 from 9AM-8PM with family greeting guests from 6-8PM. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Dighton Marler Funeral Home Chapel of Perry. Interment will follow at Morris Heights Cemetery in Orlando. Dighton Marler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Don was born on October 3, 1936 near Orlando, Oklahoma to Dennis and Edith (Hixson) Bode. He grew up in the Orlando area for a few years before his family moved south of Perry. He married Rena Mouser on May 24, 1957. Don started work for Bon Ray Drilling as a roughneck. Don was a hard worker and worked his way up to Vice President of Operations for Bon Ray Drilling. Don was also a farmer, he and Rena farmed for many years.
Don was on the Rock Township volunteer fire department He enjoyed fishing and setting trotlines. Don loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed going to auctions and through his life has collected many old tractors and farm equipment. He even bought an old Model T that he wanted to restore but was never able to.
Don is preceded in death by his parents and one son Delbert Bode.
Don is survived by his wife of 61 years Rena, his son Dennis Bode and his wife Debbie and his daughter Jeannette Hyke, his grandchildren, Jeremy Ray Bode, Ashley Henning, Kristan Sayre, Stacy Hyke and Megan Bilyeu as well as seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Jean Wheatley and husband Tom, John Bode and Charles Bode.
