Donald Sherman Wilkey

Donald Sherman Wilkey, 80, died on March 8, 2010 in Stillwater, OK. Visitation and viewing are scheduled for Thursday March 11, from 7:00-9:00pm at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater. Private family graveside services will be held at 9:00 A.M., Friday, March 12, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Garden. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm on Friday March 12th at First Baptist Church in Bartlesville, OK. Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater.
Donald Sherman Wilkey was born on October 15, 1929 to Arthur and Iona Wilkey. Upon graduation from Wagoner High School he married his high school sweetheart Sue Zachary in 1948. Don began his career at Wilson Packing Company shortly after graduation and later moved to Bartlesville where he worked for Landers Brothers as a butcher for over 30 years. While in Bartlesville he raised 5 children with his wife Sue. Don was a volunteer coach for baseball and basketball youth teams and was also active in First Baptist Church Bartlesville where he served as a deacon and also part of the bus ministry.
Don and Sue retired in Stillwater where they enjoyed their grandchildren and the OSU Cowboys. He is survived by his wife, Sue Wilkey; his sons Donald Sherman Wilkey, Jr and wife, Diane of Onalaska, TX; Travis Key Wilkey and wife, Susie of Cary, NC; his daughters Katherine Wilkey Mirabito and husband, Bob of Plano, TX; Terry Wilkey Roberts of Stillwater, OK; Melinda Wilkey Aufleger and husband, Howard of Stillwater, OK; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; 3 sisters and several nieces and nephews. He was a loving and faithful husband, father, and grandfather. We look forward to reuniting in heaven.
