Doris Darlene Jones

Doris Darlene (Hamilton) Jones, 87, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012 at her home in Stillwater, surrounded by her family. Services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and will be held at 10:00 on Wednesday August 29, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church (400 W. 7th Ave.) with Pastor Kyle Anderson presiding. Burial will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens
Doris was born on March 26, 1925 to Oscar Everett and Alta Belle (Chandler) Hamilton in Wichita Falls, TX. After graduating Headrick High School, she attended Oklahoma A&M College. On August 12, 1946 she married the love of her life John D. Jones in Headrick, OK, a union that lasted until his passing in 2010. The couple lived in various places through their marriage including Elgin, Stillwater, and Altus. She had several jobs including civilian employee for the Fredrick Air Force Base, the Elgin High School Library, the Oklahoma State University Athletic Ticket Office, and Colonial Florist, but retired after years as a receptionist at the Payne County Department of Human Services. Doris was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, and was very involved with the United Methodist Women. She also lead the Childrens Church Choir at Elgin Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Epsilon, Sigma Alpha Sorority (ESA), and the FFA moms.
Doris is survived by her sons Christopher Kyle Jones, Kevin Dee Jones, and Kennedy Patrick Jones; sister Jo Ann Avery; nieces Teresa and Nikki Jan and grandchildren Tiana and Clay. She was preceded in death by her husband John, parents Oscar and Alta, and sister Mary Helen Hamilton.
