Dorothy Rose (Rolling) Chrz was born May 17, 1929 to the late Nicholas Arthur and Mary Frances (Wagner) Rolling on the farm west of Perry, OK. After many years of fighting chronic illness, Dorothy passed away on September 21, 2017 at the Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City surrounded by family.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 10:00am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Perry, OK. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Perry. Visitation will be Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 1PM to 5PM at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Perry. A Rosary will follow at 6PM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Perry.
As a young teen, Dorothy worked as a nanny for several Noble County families. Her sister Fran shared a letter from a young soldier stationed in Germany. She and Frank Anton Chrz, Jr. corresponded while he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his return, romance bloomed and they married on April 20, 1954 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Perry, OK. They raised their family of three children on an acreage on the north side of Perry. She was known throughout the family for the baking of multiple flavors of pies and homemade angel food cakes. Dorothy was a life-long member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She served her church by cooking funeral dinners for the parish and weekly dinners for the Perry Lions Club for over forty years. Most of her 88 years were spent as a homemaker and matriarch of the family.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Frank; two daughters, Donna McClain and husband Larry of Perry, OK, and Toni Vargas and husband Chris of Tulsa, OK; one son, Leon Chrz and wife Liz of Perry, OK; grandchildren, Dave McClain and wife Charity, Greg McClain, Gidget Cissell and husband Aaron, Wayne Burris and wife Tanya, Melissa Burris; great-grandchildren, Keaton Cissell, Adelynn Cissell, Colton McClain-Anthis, Gabriel McClain, Lydia McClain, Dennis Roman, and Michael Burris; one sister, Mary Ann Coppage and husband Berry of Houston, TX; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Rolling of Tool, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Josephine Beckham and husband Glen, and Fran Skalenda and husband Ron; three brothers, Clarence Rolling and wife Norma, Leroy Rolling and Emil Rolling.
Family requests memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Perry, OK.
