Douglas D. McClenny, 58, of Stillwater, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014 at his residence. Arrangements have been entrusted under the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater, Oklahoma. Dougs family wishes to not have a funeral service and to do visitation only on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, from 2:00pm to 8:00pm.
Doug McClenny was born on October 28, 1955 in Hutchinson, KS. His parents are Harold Hemphill and Maragaret Ann (Pluchinsky) Hemphill. His father was enlisted in the Navy, so Doug and his family moved around most of his life. Doug graduated from Oilton High School in 1973. In 1975, Doug enlisted in the United States Army and served his country proudly for fourteen years. While in the Army, Doug served as a medic. He took this experience and worked as an EMT while serving as a reservist. Doug attended Meridian Technology Center and received his LPN license. After receiving his license, Doug worked in home health care and private care. This was a great career choice for Doug, because he would always put others needs before his own. Doug then worked in the carpentry business, specializing in flooring and tiling. He did not look at this as a job, but as a way to express himself artistically. His work can be seen in the Stillwater Medical Center front lobby, churches, and banks around Stillwater.
Doug married Darla Doty on October 5, 2008 in Stillwater. He loved her just as much as he loved the Lord. He took care of his whole family and spent all his free time with them, especially his grandchildren. He was a very compassionate person, but many times he could be stubborn in his ways. When he was not with this family, Doug enjoyed reading, riding motorcycles, helping with the church, and taking his grandchildren fishing.
Doug is survived by his wife, parents, children, grandchildren, great grandchild, brothers, nieces, nephews, and numerous relatives.
The family requests that donations be made in Dougs name to the Wounded Warriors Project in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, OK 74075.
Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.pmcfh.com.
