Earl D. Emmons, 94, of Stillwater, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. Arrangements are under the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 11:00am at Sunset Memorial Garden. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 9:00am to 8:00pm.
Earl Emmons was born November 23, 1921 to Harry and Julia Emmons. He grew up in Stillwater area and graduated from Ripley High School.
He enlisted in the Army in 1939 and served with the 7th Infantry Division at Attu, Kwajalein, Leyte and Okinawa. After WWII he returned to Stillwater and graduated with the first forestry class at OK. A&M in 1950. Following graduation he married Joan Miller and they had two children, Brad and Robin (Emmons) Reece. He reentered the Army as a Lt. and served in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He retired from the Army in 1974 as a Lt. Colonel after a 28 year career.
He Married Virginia (Leigh Jafek) in 1985.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Julia; brothers Lloyd, John Marlon & Wilber and sisters Dorothy and Nina; first wife Joan (Miller) Emmons; son Bradford Earl Emmons.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Virginia; daughter Robin Reece and husband Disney; stepson David Jafek and wife Maryetta; grandson Jason Reece and wife Suzanne. Granddaughters Rachel Reece and Jemu (Jakek) Lorenz and husband Matt and three great grandchildren, Trey & Cade Reece and Seren Jones.
