Earl Dewayne Luster

Funeral services for Earl DeWayne Luster, 86, of Perkins are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Jones officiating. Private family burial is to be held. Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater.
DeWayne was in born in Payne County, OK to Nannie (Bales) and Earl Luster on May 23, 1923. He lived in the Perkins area most of his youth. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942. He had previously worked for McDonnell Douglas in Tulsa. During War World II he was stationed in the Pacific Theatre. He returned home from the war and established Luster Dairy. The dairy delivered milk to all of Perkins, and his interest in auctioneering began.
He was briefly married and from this union there was born a son, Craig Luster. In 1954 he married Kenita Smalley of Coyle. To this union were born: Shannon, William (Bill), Patrice, and Jon. DeWayne began by crying cattle sales and junk sales and only in the last year or two dissolved Luster Real Estate and Auction. He was known throughout Payne, Logan, and Noble counties for his auctioneering abilities. He was an avid horseman and loved the outdoors. He was an excellent dancer and a talented card player. DeWayne passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 in Perkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister Lodene Mercer, along with his son Craig Luster.
He leaves behind his children, Bill & Ramona Luster of Perkins, Patrice and David Althouse of Yukon, Jon Luster of Perry, and Shannon and Paul Evans of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his nephew, Gary Mercer of Perkins; and Gayle Sager of Perkins, his favorite dance partner for the last 10 years.
Dad was always an optimist and found the silver lining in every cloud.
