Earl John Ferguson, 93, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 9:00am to 8:00pm with family greeting guests from 5:30-7:30pm at Dighton Marler Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at First Baptist Church at 2:00pm in Stillwater. Dighton Marler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Earl was born on June 30, 1925 to David John and Edna Mae (Carter) Ferguson in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in Dallas and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1941. He then attended Texas A&M and graduated with a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering. He then attended OSU and earned his Masters and PHD in Industrial Engineering. He was in the Navy and served in WWII. He married Jewel Annette Fisher on February 14, 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Earl was a longtime professor of Industrial Engineering at OSU and was a member of the OSU Faculty Council as well as the OSU Athletic Council. Earl taught Business Management at Notre Dame for one year and also taught in Europe at military bases in Spain, Turkey, Germany and Italy which allowed him and Annette to travel Europe extensively. He was the President of the National Materials Handling Institute. Earl was a longtime member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Stillwater. He enjoyed going golfing and fishing and loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Earl is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jewel Annette Ferguson and son Johnny Ray Ferguson.
He is survived by his children, Randy Ferguson and wife Kimberly of Fort Worth, Tx, and Daniel Ferguson and wife Teresa of Stillwater. His grandchildren Aaron Ferguson and wife Ashley, Molly Ligon and husband Daniel, Adam Ferguson and wife Yulia, Andrew Ferguson, John Ferguson and James Ferguson as well as five great grandchildren. Earl is also survived by his siblings, Doris Binford, David Ferguson and Rosaland Ferguson.
