Edward Wayne Tackel, 82, of Stillwater, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at his home. Arrangements are under the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel.
Edward Wayne Tackel was born on September 29, 1934 in Grandfield, Oklahoma to Fritz and Lizzie (Lasley) Tackel . He grew up in Grandfield, Oklahoma where he attended school and graduated from Grandfield High School in 1954. Tack was in the United States Army in Germany during the years of 1955 through 1957. He served his country proudly.
Tack married the love of his life, Betty Jean Jordan Walker on November 22, 1968. Tack was a true sports enthusiast. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy and Oklahoma City Thunder fan as well as a devoted OSU Cowboy follower.
Tack worked for Moore Business Forms for 26 years until his retirement. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Stillwater for many years.
Tack was very kind hearted and willing to help a friend in need, always with a smile on his face.
Tack is survived by his step children Steve Walker, Sr. and his wife Pam of Cushing, Oklahoma, Vickie Walker of Stillwater, Oklahoma; three grandchildren Steve Walker, Jr. and Cassie, Tonya Fritchman and husband Wes, Rance Johnson and Maggie; six great grandchildren, Holly Briscoe, Caylin Briscoe, Walker Fritchman, Kylie Cavett, Brendin and Taitlin Yates; and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and one grandson.
The family of Tack would like to give a special "Thank You" to Tacks neighbors for always checking in on him and especially to his care giver and friend, Norma Caudle.
Honorary Pallbearer are Albert Topetchy, Peanut Boyd, Henry Wells, Larry Bly, John Murdy, and Hung Le.
Memorial donations can be made in honor of Tack to the American Cancer Society in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, 5106 North Washington, Stillwater, Oklahoma 74075.
