Edwin E. Dodrill, 81, passed from this life on December 25, 2011 at his home in Ripley, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perkins (304 N. Main) and will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Dyer presiding. Visitation will be from 2-8 on Tuesday, and 9-8 on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Edwin was born on May 1, 1930 in Perkins to Dewey and Norma Dodrill and graduated from Perkins High School in 1948. He was known as a hard worker, doing carpentry in the oil industry with Midland Co-Op for 30 years. Ed was always tinkering with things, and his family liked to call him a makeshift engineer. He had several barns and shops with an abundance of projects. When he wasnt working in the oilfields, he could be found on his farm, growing alfalfa, wheat, and oats, raising cattle, and dreaming of drilling. Above all he will be remembered as a compassionate and giving man who cherished his family.

Ed is survived by his brothers Cecil, Delbert, and Albert Dodrill; children Edwina Poole and husband John of Ripley, and Wayne Dodrill and wife Diane of Verdigris; grandchildren Amber Murdock and husband Will of Boise City, Danielle Massingale and husband Dustin of Claremore, Tranya Poole of Perkins, Justin Poole and wife Charlee of Drumright, Jasper Poole of Ripley, Kyle Miller of Oklahoma City, and Sarah Parish of Tulsa; great grandchildren Jacob Massingale, John Massingale, Kyanya Poole, and Brooklyn Poole. Ed is also survived by his long time companion Ruth Mock of the home; her children Carol Bennett and husband James of Wichita Falls, TX, Valerie Rudd and husband Bruce of Wichita Falls, TX, Judy Strow and husband Bob of Ripley, Doyle Mock of Fort Worth, TX, Beverly Dyer and husband Randy of Catoosa; her grandchildren LeQuita Gage, Jennifer Bennett, Steven Bennett, Beck Bennett, Shelly Brown, Bryan Brown, Richard Brown, Anthony Brown, Angie Lann, Jesse Hunt, Teri Hunt, Andrea Conner, Laura Smith, and Leslie Dyer; as well as many more great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Edwin was preceded in death by his brother Rellen Dodrill, and sister Rose Ella Ross.
